![]() ![]() Otherwise I am dumping it and buying a Chiappa 1886 or Winchester 1886.I handled a Chiappa lever in 357 Mag (only one in the store) and if the 1886 model is anything like this one, the fit, finnish, form, action slide and quality is quite superior to the (current) Marlins. So Im giving Marlin, or should I say Remington, or whoever is in charge of Manufacuring and QC an opportunity to return a reliably functioning rifle with good qual parts. It seems there is deluge of guns produced recently that have all kinds of manufacturing defects.Īnyway, it does not really matter when this gun was produced, it does not function reliably and the workmanship of the internal parts looks like the parts were chewed though a grinder before being squished into the action assembly. If it was produced many years ago before Marlin changed hands so many years ago, it would probably not have these issues. I know the rifle is new and is a true GBL version that is a NEW model. I went onto the Marlin Website and could not determine the true date of manufacture since the serial number does not make sense on that system. I am not negating what you say at all, but think that the newest rifles coming out of Remington/Marlin must have a new system for serial numbers. ![]()
